Comment:
Sewer construction in 1917 in Australia had a major effect on breeding sites for mosquitoes and hence transmission of diseases. However, there is always the risk of the re-introduction of diseases such as dengue and malaria especially to northern Australia by allowing water to remain in containers around houses, infected people returning from endemic areas and changes in climate resulting in an increase in mosquito populations becoming infective agents again.
